Going to drug and alcohol rehab for addiction can stop the downward spiral of addiction, but it can also stop that feeling you have about feeling bad about yourself when the "high" ends. Addiction is a downward cycle as you chase the high you once had. By "chasing that high" you give up your life and in doing so you can't help but feel bad. Here's what one person said while in rehab: "I realized while doing rehab how terrible and shady I had been to my family. I lied, cheated, stole and conned so much, but that realization really lifted the weight off my shoulders. I realized how much they still loved me. Through all the stuff I put them through they all had hopes that it would soon get better even though time and time again I let them down. I talk to them every Friday and they are so happy to hear that I am doing well. Writing down what I did has given me a clear mental slate with my family and with the knowledge I now have I plan to work every day on building more rapport with my family and enjoying out clean, sober life together!"
