Today has been a day that helped me see that some people become addicted to drugs to cover the pain of a terrible childhood. A girl that is in rehab said she started having stomach aches and anxiety from the time she was six years old. Her dad was very abusive to her and her Mom. By the time she was six years old her dad would hold a gun to her head and torment her and her Mom, He would drive wreckless and scare them. She would hide in closets to keep him from betting her. Her anxiety grew to an alarming rate, she went to doctors for her stomach ache and they treated her with medications. Her anxiety grew and the doctors treated her with anti-anxiety meds. By the time she was eleven years old she was taking medication that cancer paitents take when they get sick from taking treatments. She was on all kinds of antidepressants. Why didn't the medical professionals treat her for the trama from the abuse that her dad did to her, all they did was medicate an abused child. She became a full blown addict when her dad shot and killed her step-mom!!! She got on all kinds of street drugs and came into treatment at 22 years old . She was so physically addicted to that point she had bleeding in her stomach and seizures from all the drugs she had taken. Her stomach was bleeding because the pills that she took ate the lining out of her stomach. She almost died trying to get help!!!!She spent 3 weeks in the hospital before she could come to the rehab for treatment. Today she is healthy and doing good. She is a beautiful young lady with a terrific future ahead of her. Most of the anxiety she had is gone, she is sooo much better. She has worked very hard at the treatment of this rehab. The bigest difference she experienced is from the sauna. The sauna pulled all the drugs and toxins out of her body. She is drug free now and learning how to life.
